Bapu's 'Sri Rama Rajyam in troubles, Violation of environmental, water body and forest laws

Movie unit cut trees, laid approach road and filled reservoir with sand...

The forest department censured movie production for allegedly cutting down hundreds of trees in the Sambhuvanipalem reservoir on the outskirts of the city and issued a show cause notice to the producer on Wednesday. The movie unit destroyed 100 trees and had built an artificial studio, for a movie starring Balakrishna, with plaster-of-Paris on a war footing thus polluting the reservoir. A show cause notice had been issued to Srikeerthi Combines of Hyderabad and they had been asked to reply within 24 hours, damages would be recovered from them and also been asked to vacate the premises. As a result of the department’s action, about 25 days of work schedule of the film will be wasted.
Convener of Forum for Better Visakha, Mr E.A.S. Sharma had written to the Union minister for environment and forests that the movie company was destroying the reserve forest and carrying out activities without valid permissions. Mr Sharma had also threatened to take the matter to the High Court as the activity was in gross violation of the Forest (Conservation) Act, Water, Land and Trees Act, Environment (Protection) Act, EIA Notification and VUDA’s Master Plan.
